Day1: Touching down in Rwanda
Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport, you will meet our representative who will hand you the car keys and the car for your entire self drive safari from where you will transfer to the Kigali Serena Hotel or Okapi Hotel for dinner and an overnight. Meal plan: BB
Day2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, you will embark on a 2-hour drive to Akagera National Park near the border with Tanzania. There are beautiful sceneries you shall be exposed to along the way, you shall then check-in at Akagera Game Lodge and have a rest. After Lunch in the Afternoon, you will go for one of Africa’s most wonderful game drives in Akagera national park looking for various wildlife species like the lions, elephants, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, water and bush bucks, giraffes, buffaloes among others. While on this drive also expect to spot variety of birds. Return for diner and overnight at Akagera Lodge, meal plan: H/B
Day3: Dawn Game drive & Boat Ride
After early cup of coffee proceed to a dawn game drive to catch up with early raisers and predators returning to their hideouts. The game drive will reward you with chances to see a variety of elephants, buffalos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck among others. Return to the Lodge for Breakfast and relax to lunch time. Then after go for a Boat ride on Lake Ihema, here you will see hippos, huge Nile crocodiles and a rich bird life of about 525 bird species. Day4: Drive to Parc National des Volcanoes national Park
Drive back to Kigali after breakfast, visit the Genocide Memorial. After lunch, proceed to the Volcanoes national park through the beautiful terraced hillsides to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dinner and overnight at Kinigi Guest House or Lebombou lodge or Virunga Lodge overlooking the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera. Meal plan: F/B
Day5: Rwanda Gorilla trekking
After early breakfast, we shall head for a briefing about Gorilla trekking in Rwanda at the Kinigi Station, then head straight to the slopes of the Forest. Gorilla trekking is no-longer quite strenuous, we send an advance team so you can move direct to the spot where the advance team has located the Gorillas. Maximum permitted time with the Gorillas is 1 hour, return to the lodge and rest. Depending on your schedule, you may take a short cultural tour to nearby communities. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight, meal plan: F/B
Day6: Dian Fossey Hike
You will go and visit Dian Fossey’s Grave – a famous researcher on Mountain gorillas for 20 years. Experience great scenery and close view of many sorts of wildlife on the trek to the Grave. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight, meal plan: F/B
Day7: Departure
Have the whole morning at ease relaxed. Depending on flight schedule, you may have lunch at the Lodge before heading to the Airport for departure. End of your non guided cultural tour.
